1849 PLC is a Kyiv (Ukraine) based real estate development and investment company. The company was co-founded by Alex Podell, Graham Hedger and Charles Gourgey in 2005. The company’s strategy is to be the first mover into the regional cities and to purchase the best development site in town.
1849 PLC first deal was the purchase of Pyramida Shopping Centre. This was a joint venture with Apollo Real Estate Advisors, London created to acquire and redevelop Pyramida Shopping Centre. This has been a multi-phase redevelopment project. 1849 has a taken a Soviet-style bazaar shopping centre concept and redveloped into a modern European shopping centre. The final phase is to be completed in the second quarter of 2009.
Over the past 36 months 1849 PLC has purchased 3 excellent land plots in Poltava, Chernivtsi and Rivne. We are currently in the planning/development stage of building all 3 sites as modern shopping centres. The first project is to commence construction in the 2nd quarter of 2009. It is hoped that all three project will be completed by 3rd quarter 2011.
